This is a rare narwhal double tusk, i.e. two tusks from the same narwhal.  All narwhal have two teeth.  In males, one extends beyond the skin and becomes the long tusk narwhal are famous for.  The other tusk rarely penetrates the skin and grows.  When it does, this becomes a rare double-tusk narwhal.

All narwhal have two teeth.  In males, one extends beyond the skin and becomes the long tusk narwhal are famous for.  The other tusk rarely penetrates the skin and grows.  Here are some embedded teeth that we have sold in the past.  According to CITES Canada and Fisheries & Oceans, tusks that have not penetrated the skin are considered to be embedded teeth and not tusks.
